The project objective was to envision a new solution to address the limitation of the way of administrating the licensing process in mBalance (using and Excel file). The aim was to improve the existing situation by allowing more people to work simultaneously with the licenses tool and also enforce usage policy by allowing different types of users to perform task suitable for their level of authority. The goal of the project was to create a tool that allows more people to concurrently and collaboratively work with the licensing tool.                        

The mBalance License Tool offers companies that develop license based software or hardware the possibility to issue and manage (activate/renew/approve/generate) customers' licenses. The application allows hierarchical management based on organizations, locations and granted licenses.

A simple workflow to accommodate for different authorization levels (commercial, tech) is also provided. The application allows more people to work simultaneously and also enforces usage policy by allowing different types of users to perform task suitable for their level of authority.

The application uses a third party component (Component Art), used for generating the vertical left tree which allows the user to navigate through the pages of the selected menu option (by expanding/ collapsing the tree options).

The mBalance License Tool is an ASP.Net 2.0 web application which relies on Microsoft SQL Server for data storage. The License Tool requires Microsoft ASP.Net 2.0 AJAX Extensions (ASP.NET AJAX 1.0) and uses MSDTC.
