Currently available e-learning tools are static and are teaching according to a fixed format. As a result the training is limited in mimicking real life situations. Yowsim! competence simulator^® is a new e-learning tool that incorporates these unpredictable situations based on simulation. The goal of Yowsim! competence simulator^® is to teach trainees the right behavioral patterns instead of learning "tricks". By doing so, the trainee will be better prepared to new situations. In order to offer trainings to its customers, Yowsim! has a number of applications built in Delphi that are used to create, manage and run training cases, as well as provide reporting capabilities. One of these applications, the Yowsim! Training Environment is used by clients to run training simulations.

The goal was to transform the exiting Training Environment into a web based application, implemented with ASP.Net and using Microsoft SQL Server 2008 as the backend database. The web-enabled Training Environment integrates with the rest of Yowsim! applications in order to keep the existing process for handling trainings, while also taking into account support for new functionalities.

The training environment displays a cockpit in which the trainee can attend classes, visit the library or executes a number of studies and tests. During the training, the trainee can make notes which will be available in next sessions of the training or ask questions. Trainings can also be managed by users with corresponding rights in the training environment.
